Auxillary 12v charging system in Safari

Post by 3VILC »

I've read of this being done and am interested in pics or descriptions of anyone who has done it.
ie. A completely isolated 12v alternator and battery for running unessecerilly large stereo amplifiers in a 24v truck. Mainly because it would be a project for something to do and make more sense than stupid amounts of 24v-12v converters :)

I removed the aircon compressor from my truck and fitted very easily, a voltage regulated 12 volt alternator in its place. I have a battery box and heavy duty battery bolted down behind the rear seat. I use this to run most of my 12v accessories including car fridge etc. I have a red charging light on the dash that goes out when engine started to keep an eye on charging system. All works primo.
