I've just put my old 3" coils in the GU, and am about to source new shocks and brake lines, can anyone tell me if I extend the lines an inch for every inch of lift?
Also, where can I get braided lines, are they worth it, and do they need to be certed?
Cheers,
Dave

Re: Extended brake lines
well i had this same dilemma, there is a place in Hamilton that makes them, you send your old ones to them and they make them up, i know where they are but cant remember there name, the new lines are all stamped with the correct numbers so it would not need a cert aparently, well it would take a keen eye to spot the difference anyway, i think its aztec brake and clutch $50- $60 each depending on length, i will look later.
i put 3'' lift springs on mine and with the axle at full drop it only just pulled the lines straight so i made a extended bracket to bolt on top of the diff to move the fixed steel line up slightly also making sure it didnt hit anything with the axle fully up, which it obviously didnt becouse the extended springs dont crush up as much as origionals... this was just a get me by fix and i will put new lines in later, with so many other things to do at the time i couldnt find the funds
cant answer how long you need though
all this depends on how quickly you need the truck back on the road with having to send them up here i am sure you would have someone more local to get them done quicker.

Re: Extended brake lines
Put you rear line onto the front and then just get a long rear. They have the same fitting with the rear being idea for up to 4" lift when fitted to the front. Then all you need is to get new rear made to the length you want. ie about 3" longer.
Most brake specialists will be able to make legal braided hoses for you the same day. ie drop off sample and as long as you have made sure they have the right fitting, they can make them up to suit. I have done this and they were about $100. The difference is that the braided hose is about 3x the price and most of the cost is in labour and the fittings so doesn't really add much.

Nissan Terrano coilovers, turboed VH45, Safari axles, and some other stuff.

Not sure about the cert, never been a problem though.
Not sure on price? About $120 or something maybe? Didn't break the bank whatever it was, best part there was no mucking around like when getting custom ones made up.
