Re: maverick shotguns
Hi I have a maverick 88 mossberg 28" (think its 28 - its the longer one anyway) pump action and would totally recomend it. Really good gun for the money and not a piece of shit either. One thing I found with mine is you have to keep it clean - being a pump. Good safe gun and with the 6 shots (my model) is a true rabbit and duck machine. looking foward to the duck season with it.
cheers, Tom.

I've been thinking about getting one of these also, best price I can find so far is $450 through Guncity. Would be keen to hear if they are available cheaper.
Re: maverick shotguns
i picked my akar semi auto up for 600, but i like pump action more i think. so if the price is right ill have to make room in the safe

No worries, I paid $350 seccondhand - always a risk but the gun was in top condition. New from memory I think they are $500?
Found one on trademe through guncity at $450 new - as Smurf has pointed out.

Allan Millars Hunting and fishing in Dunedin has a seccondhand one in the shop a couple of weeks ago, could be sold by now but might be worth a ring.

Hunting and fishing got them on special at the moment same price less the postage and wait
Re: maverick shotguns
I reckon the 20" barrel is just too short aye, definately better to go for a longer barrel if you can and want some range.
Re: maverick shotguns
I've sold a bunch of these and they are fun to shoot. I've found pretty much all pump guns are clean shooting. Most customers don't even clean their mavericks.
20in models I've seen are cylinder bore guns so pretty average with shot at distance. Good for Buckshot and solids at short range. Mavericks a cheaper version of the 500 but seems to be about as good. Only downside is if you don't slide the fore end back nice and square when cycling the action the arms on the side can bind up making it hard to pump. Hard to explain without holding one but yeah.
Just have to stroke it right

Re: maverick shotguns
They eat any ammo.
NEVER seen one fail to fire/eject/extract or make you smile for sod all money.
Mossy barrels fit (within capacity) and are on T me.
Go for the 28 incher I reckon, more versatile.
Easy to strip and clean too not that they need it often,. Semis can be fussy, pumps are simple. Bugger all to go wrong.
Push one pin out and it shakes to bits the rest of the way
Semis dont sound as cool cycling either!
