surf starting problem

i have a 1990 surf. i have just replaced the contacts and the plunger , spring . It will start on the odd occasion but most of the time it will just click. i have got a brand new battery as well. any advice would be great.

check earth strap from engine to chassis.

Id check all battery connections...a loose of badly corroded terminal will stop it turning over sometimes

Had that exact same problem in my surf, it occasionally did it, but sold it before fixing. Intresting thread though.

i traced it back to the relay it was bugged
