Conway river is a good trip. You will need snorkels and recovery gear. After that last lot of rain the river bed will have changed and be soft. Just what you need for a good old river trip.

The conway is quite easy at present. Only one soft spot and no water over wheel depth, mostly hub depth. It needs a good flood to make it more interesting. I would encourge you to give it a go. Head in from the inland rd down to the coast, or pop out at sh1.

:? :? :? :? :? mmmm, not likely, you'd do it in a 4wd car at the moment, however the section that goes beside the state highway is soft in places.

there hasn't been a good rain up there to flood the conway in quite some time,

If you guys are heading upstream from the gorge be very aware of the sesitivity of the gorge area, I would strongly reccommend staying downstream of the camping ground.

how long ya reckon it would take to go in at say the rangiora bridge and drive up to the gorge camp site for lunch and then those that want to keep going into the gnarly stuff can keep going,?? just an idea so we can include some of the newer less experianced guys who don't want to do the hard yards above the gorge. (i've never been abouve the gorge so tell me if im wrong and stroking it)

3-4hrs, I reccommend not driving upstream of the campsite.

a, good point, my beast won't be done anyway still needs plumbing, new deck set up front axle rebuild install locker and new shocks and mounts.... so not a chance but im keen to see what its like up there, usually rolling around as passenger in nic's truck (comilux) but i don't think he'll be up to it since he has no lockers and 33's . You lot organise it as you were and ill fit in if i can. Cheers
