i have a 94 wide body terrano 5 speed the gearbox has just developed a grumble noise in 1,2,3,5 but 4 is sweet must be 1:1 i guess. any way is it a case of putting new bearings threw it or will it need a new box ?
trans code is fs5w71c hg48 is there any thing alse that has same box ?

Sounds likw the same box I have in mine and I had that rebuilt and 7 years ago. From memory it cost about $1500 and it is fine. I stripped first gear but they did all the bearing while they had it apart. From memory a second hand one was about the same as getting it fixed.
The whole vehicle is for sale so it may work out cheaper just to buy mine with a rebuilt box. ie 93 widebody 5 speed 3 door. make an offer.

yeah mine did that for about a week before it blew a ball bearing out the plate that blots around the input shaft, when my navara 1 blew years ago i brought a rebuilt 1 which for a week now is in the terrano, but will be rebuilding this box myself this time, waitng on a parts box to arive then im striping down to order the new bearings,, i think ill put in the heavier duty roller bearing for the front lay shaft, the common problem in these especialy with heavy towing, am also on the look for old blown boxes to collect and rebuild for a spare, any offers on blown ones catch me on 021499561 i wont pay a heap but ill do better than the scrappy will,
