hey guys,

have searched and read alot about the mounting of rated recovery hooks but still want clarification.

how have people mounted their hooks on the front of a Mu or wizard? (being almost identicle at the front)

i was thinking of silding some angle steel down inside the end of the chassis rail and putting 2 or 3 bolts in the side of the chassis to add strength. then mount the hook on the bottom of the chassis rail with the bolts coming up thru the bottom of the chassis and onto the same piece of angle. angle steel is 6mm thick.

will this be ok?

and second question is;

does anyone in the hamilton area want to help me for a box of beers? :lol:

I dunno how you attach hooks to the front of Mu's but you might want to have a quick check of the hook mounts on the back for rust etc coz I pulled one off the back of a Mu last year. Probably a one off incident but it dosent take much to have a quick check? :wink:

Broken hook thread here

Disclaimer:
this is a how to attach hooks to a Mu thread not an arguement about towhooks thread
:o

nope, no rust in my chassis. its a 1998 so not really that old (well still 10 years)

rear hook must have been removed to fit the tow bar as its not there anymore - and theres no room for one anyway.

anyone else have any ideas about tow hooks on wizard/mu?

I fitted fronts to my Bighorn by drilling the chassis, fitting crush tubes, and fitting a 5mm backing plate from memory, wasn't easy, but well worth it in the end.

The rear was just fittind to a removable tongue on the towbar
