Rebuild or Upgrade

Well my G13a Shat itself on the weekend.
Was driving to a mates place and suddenly lost power.(No loud bangs though) Nursed it to his place sounding like it was running on 3 cylinders. Checked the leads, coil, distributer cap, plugs, timing, carb, air and fuel all ok. :?
Did a compression test last night and found that Numbers 1 & 4 were down to 140psi and numbers 2 & 3 wouldn't even register on the dial

I'm going to pull the sump and head tonight to check how much damage has been done.

Is it worth re-building the G13a, or will it work out the same time and money wise, to just upgrade to a G16a

What do you guys reckon???

Bung a g16 in it. You know you want to, ya just need a gentle shove. Just check the new donk out so you dont have any later problems (like Ryan on here had).

Of course if you can get a really cheap one then replace with stock, but if you are to have all the hassles of the ripout and replace just go bigger (see Ben T for an adapter kit (On T Me and on here I think)).

Update:
Pulled the head tonight and found blown head gasket. Piece about 1cm missing between 2 & 3
Chunks of metal in the oil and by the look of the head there has been a bit of leakage from all the cylinders.
Scoring in the liners of 2 & 4. Bottom end looks sweet.
Doesn't look like the head is cracked or any major damage has been done. Will have a better idea tomorrow when I have a look in the daylight.

At least we can test and put your spare 13a in if needed untill you can find a g16.
Should be free tomorrow arvo if needed.

Sweet ,shouldn't be two hard to swap the other engine in.
Will pull the sump off it tonight and have a look at the bottom end.

Well I got the old engine out, all the bits swapped over and my spare engine in.
Old engine requires new 2 cylinder liners for rebuild, so will go behind the shed for spares.

Just have to time and tune it and should be a goer.
Hopefully it will keep me going long enough to find a G16a 8 valve injected motor to take its place.

300cc extra power, is just to tempting.
