Waikato CMS preliminary draft closed

DOC Waikato have released a preliminary draft version of the planned CMS for comment. The only catch is that there are only 3 public meetings planned to talk about it and they are all in the next week! Comments are due by 16 April.
In the whole area of the Waikato conservancy from the top of the Coromandel to below Bennydale there is only one area specified for 4x4 use... Maratoto.

Some of you will have perhaps seen some of my efforts to convince DOC Waikato to extend their consultation of their preliminary draft of the CMS. At present they have organised only 3 public meetings in 3 towns to discuss a project that will set rules for the next 10 years. Their intention is to close this comment period on April 16.
One possible way to demonstrate the interest from the public is for everyone on this forum to email DOC Waikato and request a copy of the preliminary draft CMS. We must take a stand so that this is not repeated in other conservancies.
All you need to do, is simply send an email to
acraig@doc.govt.nz with your name and postal address, requesting a copy of the preliminary draft of the Waikato CMS.
A flood of emailed requests might get their attention... the email address is that of their public affairs manager.

The Te Kuiti meeting was last Thursday.

.... there is now a 4x4 meeting organised with DOC Waikato in Auckland at 7.30 Wed 9 April at the Victoria Avenue Primary School Hall in Remuera. 282 Victoria Ave (opposite Sonia Ave)

A worthwhile meeting and my thanks to the Manukau 4WD club for their strong attendance. It will be interesting to see what influence our discussion has on the next draft of the Waikato CMS. There is still time for anybody to contact DOC Waikato and talk to them about routes on DOC land that you would like recognised or even suggest potential places. April 16 is the cut-off for this stage of the CMS review.
