how many people would be interested in. . . .
buying a lockright locker ($337nzd ea not including shipping for 7.5 27spl toyota.), as i am thinking of getting one from rockyroad, And would order more then one if any one els wants one or even two, It would be cheaper then buying one at a time if we did a bulk order, So any one els want one?
i could also order other things like suspension and other things if any one wants me to get them anything?

Re: how many people would be interested in. . . .
Good on ya for offering to help others out but something to think about is that if the order is over $400nz then you are subject to GST and possibly customs duty tax on the full amount, so if you ordered 2 ($750NZ?) you may aget hit with a $95 GST fee + duty tax if applicable (unlikely though for a locker) So that may or may not offset the cost of combined shipping for two of them...
Note: I can't remember what postage service rocky road use... in MY experience i've found if stuff is sent via a courier company (ups/dhl/etc) then they will automatically lodge customs stuff on your behalf and charge you for it, if it is via the postal service (usps/nzpost) then officially you should be charged but appears faily random on if they do or not... like to be honest more often than not i haven't been charged and when i have its been because it was a huge package (size wise) or the company had put like $1 on the customs declaration (which was obviously incorrect)....

I dont need to order anything Jase but I've used Rocky Road before and they are safe and have a good reputation, when you order anything you should expect to pay GST and probably a small brokerage fee when they get into the country, if you dont happen to get charged the GST then concider it a bonus

Re: how many people would be interested in. . . .
There are many other vendors in the US who deal with Powertrax and would do a price match. I have dealt with:
http://www.offroadtoystore.com and http://www.summitracing.com
Both of them offer excellent service and ship through US Postal Service. I like http://www.offroadtoystore.com more as its a smaller retailer (more personal service - talk to Mike Nevitt there).
I have heard/read some mixed reviews of Rocky-Road, some were very happy, others were not so.
GST would be applicable on imports at more than NZ$400. I don't believe there is any import customs duty, but there would be a customs clearance fee of around $40 per entry filed.

I agree, treat GST as part of your costing. If it doesn't get charged, its a bonus.

Re: how many people would be interested in. . . .
based on the recent horror stories, I've stopped using rock road.. I now get everything shipped from the cheapest source to my brother in New York, then USPS from there. Cheapest and safest way for me personally.

I normally order stuff directly (never used Rocky-Road) from a couple of vendors. Best company I have dealt with has been http://www.summitracing.com - they are big enough and carry many many makes and models, but are gearheads first (so know what they are talking about). They are different from your average "virtual" stockist.
As an experiment, I have just now ordered something from a company in Colorado that does not export. They are shipping to my "virtual" address given by http://www.buyusa.co.nz
I am watching this way of ordering things, will post my results/experience.

Just out of interest, do you have to pay tax etc on goods that are packed in a car that's being imported?

I would have thought so as well. If those items are "new", they will be adding value to what is being imported in total, putting them inside the truck packed is just saving on shipping and packing. Its like when you consolidate orders, put smaller items inside larger (hollow) items, you still pay tax on whats on the packing list (i.e. itemised list of what is being imported inside that particular package).
Now, if you get these parts installed before bringing them in or these items are household goods (because you are moving countries), thats a different story!

Now thats exactually what I was thinking..... surely you can bolt difflocks and crawler gears and stuff all over the engine and anywhere else you can think of and innocently claim they are part of the vehicle

also be aware that if you claim something is worth less than it is customs can and will take the entire thing, its pretty common for guys bringing in cars from japan to have to boot full of wheels and turbos etc its fine if you declare them and pay tax but if you dont declare them or claim they are worth far less than they are customs will take it and probably take you to court..

Re: how many people would be interested in. . . .
well in the weekend i placed an order with summit racing for a front lockright.
apart from the whole time difference theyve been great to deal with, the lock right is ALREADY been shipped out of Cleveland and making its way over. so far its cost $424 thats not including GST or Duty, we'll soon see how that goes.
But they really have been excellent!! Rocky Road was initially cheaper than summit by approx $30 but summit said no worries we'll beat their price!! so they did by $1
Rock Road couldnt supply any lockers for 3 weeks and shipping was alot more!!
And thanks to SKID for getting me in contact with his flatmate about a rear 4.88 diff!! LEGEND!!!! ill be ordering a rear lock right when the front one arrives!!
Highly recommend Summit
Cheers

Couldn't agree more. They are really professional in their dealings. I have been extremely happy with their service. Did you ask for it to be put through US Postal Service? If yes, it will be delivered to you by Courier Post (c/o NZ Post).
