Hey - can any body tell me what the 1986 on 2.4 turbo coil sprung cruisers are like for 4x4in? Are they as good as the 3.4 non turbo leaf spring models? Modifications etc? Issues? I am not familiar with these trucks and would greatly appreciate any input you have. Cheers Greg

do you mean the prado? 2.4 2lte?

yep motors are a bit underpowered, but not that bad, yes they do have the head cracking problem but the 2lte isn't as bad as the 2lt, but then its like any alloy head...cook it and it cracks the head, but in saying that it revs nicely to 5000rpm before you hit the limiter which with 33"s will spin the tyres nicely and get you thru  , they aren't as heavy as the bigger cruisers which helps, add to this really nice seats, cup holders, beam axle and coils. has a 70L tank, on 1 day trip I usually only use 1/4 a tank.

mines a SWB, LWB ones would not be a good given the extra weight, when the motor dies rip it out an throw a lexus V8 or a 1kzte in it. if you can get one of the later ones with the 1kzte's in it.

Coil sprins are good heaps better and cheaper than leaf. 2.4 turbo is a bit of a hand grenade and guttless but a 2.8 will bolt stright in with the 2.4 turbo heaps more grunt
