toyota hilux

Post by garic »

Hey im looking at buying a toyota hilux, found one that is a doublecab, 2litre petrol 1985 ,done nearly 300k. It comes with quite a few spare parts but he wants 3g for it.

Just wondering if this is a good price or not and are the high ks a worry at all and what these vehicles are like on gas etc?

thanks guys

An 85 2L carb'd petrol motor in a heavy vehicle that has done 300k's will have bad fuel economy most likely.

3G sounds a bit steep unless it's had work done to it.

Early 90's Surf's can be had for less than that.

better off to pay more for a high km hilux than a surf though, at least the hilux has more moddability suspension wise....

double cabs are expensive! thats not a real bad price. should be able to get him down a bit. though yeah expect to use alot of gas and have not much power. I sold one last year with a stuffed gear box but with lpg had high ks but ran like new ( had been rebuilt i think) got 3200 for it. don't think i ripped him off too much.

Depends what you want to do with it and how much you have the spend. A stock lower km Surf will be nicer than a 300k doublecab but possibly won't perform as well offroad.

I don't think thats a too much to ask for as long as its not a rust bucket. Does it have power steering ? if not offer him less. double cabs have got dare as poison lateley though. I paid 3750 for my 2.4 dc with 225000 a month ago good condition steel wise but with the clear coat falling off. good luck :D
