Did ya stop at Terry's bar by the fishing harbour (little place, the bar roof that locks down on the bar at night), how about the banana court and have they fixed Trader Jacks yet? Did ya hire a scooter or little zuke to do the obligatory island loop?
Been a long time since I was there (16 years) so it may have changed.

no traders jack still there doing fine ... the other two I dont recall may have different names now or ( more likely ) I consumed toooo many drinks to remeber... .
Did ya hire a scooter
hell yea.. $100 for 7 days unlimited mileage, no helmet law, although the goverment tried to bring in a law to require the wearing of helmets and was due to come into force this week , but everyone objected saying that speed and drunk driving was the problem not a helmet law... freedom of choice .. ( anyone remember what that was?)Arnt we lucky we have a goverment that thinks for us

max speed limit of 50 kph 32 ks round trip Two roads, one inland, one coast road. If you travel at 50 ks no one will pass you., and if you pass someone travelling slower than say 40 ks they dont consider it a personal insult ( eg Dorklanders) Got to have a local vehical lience, no written just a practical and the hardest part is paying $10 for 3 months. Petrol is a tad dear at $2 27 per litre but on a scooter, no problems.I think LTSA could learn a few lessons for these guys. NZ beer is cheaper than here. Huh !! no GST !!!
yep Im going back

2 of us went through 5 scooters in a week over there. We went on the 4wd safari around the Island, (pretty lame, but great guides), and when we got back to the hotel, my mate and i grabbed the bikes and did the track up beside the hospital. From up there you can see the local quarry, so we took the scooters in there as well. And the best track we found was out the back of heartbreak hotel, was just a mud and clay walking track. It had a concrete bridge over a culvert part way in, so it would have been rude not to try a burn out

(those little scooters smoke up well

)
Great place to visit, and I will go back again, (and yeah, trader jacks is a great spot, even if Jack himself is a totally wrong bast**d

).

the track up beside the hospital.
had a look at the track?? but had a grandkid on the back. We didnt demolish any scooters but did an amazing drift /burnout /total loss of control that involved some body fliuds in a rental car ....its a long humorous story that cant be told here !

but I brought home the number plate that was rescued from the pool.We never found all the wheels although the car had 3 12' and 1 13' when we returned/ abandoned it.
Never drink with mechanics, sparkies, fitters or chippies if you want to stay out of trouble..
