Waimak Night Play (Updated)

Post by Disco-Blue »

Anyone keen to go on a night time play at the Waimak this week, maybe friday or Saturday night? Now that its getting dark around 6 would give us a few hours to play around in the dark before it gets to late.

Plans have changed due to what Albundy recommended, I dont want to be causing any issues to the Police and giving 4wders a bad name. The plan has now changed to a night trip at the Ashley river on Friday night, will hopefully come out at the beach should everything work out.

Not trying to put a damper on things, but theres a sign on the north side saying gates locked at 7pm with daylight saving. I would assume that would apply to the south side also.

Thanks but I am aware of this. The north side has an entrance that is not secured so will allows us to get to the play area without any issues. It is a proper road as well so us using it would not be illegal.

We are looking at Friday night meeting up around 7-8pm?? That gives people time to go home and have some dinner before heading out. So far its just me an Philux confirmed but everyone is welcome and we will be on channel 19.

have you guys read the paper today. Cops have cordoned off a large area around the mak looking for that girl's body. Might pay to keep away for a few weeks.

Don't wish to hijack the plans but another option could be to meet at Raingoria bridge, head to Rossiters rd, go in from there. Head up the Ashley 4wd track, drop into the river at the end of it, head to the okoku bridge and pop out there. That would take about 2hrs at night. Any chance we could start any earlier as I would love to bring my young boys along, say meet at 7pm, depart bridge at 7:15 pm.

I cant do 7 as I dont finish work till 6 and it would be 7 by the time i got home. Could probably make it there by 7.30 and if we set off at 7.45, i dont mind making it earlier after all 4wding is a family sport.

If you are happy with 7.30 Al thats fine with me.

Sorry guys, but handbrake has reminded me that we have guests comong over tonite, so won't be able to make it. What are peoples availability for weekends in May? I am thinking of running a trip up the Waipara to the gorge. I am well aware of all the issues up that way, and our trip would be very politically correct. Combined clubs are encouraging their own clubs to continue using the gorge for trips so whay not us as well. Lets show them how responsible we are. It will be a fmaily orientated day. I will start another thread next week, jsut putting feelers out for now.

Whas a good trip, I really need to hurry up and get a snorkle  . Thanks to Mike for leading and showing us some wicked river crossings and soft shingle traps. Hope both Philux and Jezza get your transmissions fixed and that your truck dries out ok Jezza.

I only managed to get a couple of pics as it was to dark.

Thanks again guys we will have to do it again soon.
