I was thinking of relocating the number plate on my classic Rangie and know that in the UK you can get a sticker version and stick it to the front of the bonnet - is that legal in NZ?

No it's not legal.
My brother got hit with not having an official number plate on the front of his car (he had a nicely made slightly smaller one). It was one of those "show us the real plate, we'll rip up the ticket" sort of tickets. But that didn't make him much happier.

And it has to be clearly visible from the front of the vehicle. Not mounted on the dash, on the roof rack, behind the bullbar. I have nowhere to mount on front other then on the radiator grille, $200 instant fine for not being clearly visible. Talked my way out of that one. Funny thing is the one on the back is hidden by ropes but they never said anything about that....

mines mounted on the leading edge of the bonnet... looks dmub so im gonna put ti on the drivers side bumper, that way its clearly visible from the front, but the winch will obscure it from the side....

Mine hangs below the front bumper, it just folds up out of the way if it gets dragged over anything.

Cheers guys,

Shame, the sticker option in the UK is pretty good as it clears up the issue of where to put the thing!!

Will have a rethink then - might just do folding brackets so that if it drags it'll fold up out the way.

Cheers,

Fish.

And if your lucky enough to have an older vehicle with the old black numberplates make sure you dont lose them coz I've lost count of the amount of times I've been flashed by stationary speed cameras and they havent been able to read them Image

The buggers can get you on black plates... uphill into the morning sun seems to work :x

But I think I also have got away with many , especially at night.
