The crew: 8 trucks, everything from full decked out ,lifted hiluxes to a standard isuzu bighorn LWB.
Weather: 2 days of solid rain leading up to the trip. Conditions on the day fine.
Ground: Route coes ford to SHW1 bridge then via coaltrack road to Hororata river.
Execution: Departed Coes ford 1000 with 8 trucks. found some alright holes to play in leading up to Chamberlains ford. 1 in particular had good mud and a few good size eels in too. River was low and was dry by the time we reached Withels ford. Played on a few good gravel banks along the way and stopped at SHW1 bridge for lunch.
From SHW1 moved up Coaltrack rd to Gillanders road ,dropped into the Selwyn river and headed downstream 1km to the Hororata river. The original track had been made temporarily impassable with a log jam so was bypassed. The river wasn't flowing but several pools were of bonnet depth. Traction wasn't too bad and even the standard Isuzu bighorn got through the worst of it with plenty of jandal. The track ended with a large log jam and thick jungle type vegetation so the convoy turned around and headed home.
Overall a good trip.
Rating on the hardcore scale 5.7/10 (1 being state highway 1, 10 being the northern face of Mt Everest)
