After market heavy duty Clutch

Rear diff Hilux with solid spacer on the pinion 4.5 ratio with ARB lockers front and Rear ,fitted with suburu disc brakes.
Steering box and drag link also 70 series landcruiser.
Front suspenion off a Y60 Nissan Safari giving me the 6 inch coils for more length
Rear suspenion hilux with Datsun coil on top of diff and Old man emu 2inch springs with the overloads removed to make them more pliable. Anti Tramp Rod to stop the leaves bending .Rancho shocks
Approach angle nearly 65 degrees and departure about 50 degrees without the back cut off which stuffs most trucks.

I dont how to post pics but I will try and get smurf to send some .
Nothng special just a 86 hilux double cab, no stickers or anything to give it away.
I bought it about 13 years ago and was told by club members "pity you bought a hilux ". Most people had 40 series landcruisers or landrovers then. This was like red rag to a bull so started to modify the hilux.
To this day I have never been out performed by a Cruiser modified or standard.

"Richard" , that there's fighting talk

, meet you High Noon on the Coast, you will need more than your Bulletproof Vest

.
Why the BFG's? , did the Simex ET's wear out to quick ? , a few lines on your choice of tyres and comparisons between brands would make interesting reading.
FITZY.

Hi Fitzy
Not really a challenge just quoting a fact to date ,it sounds although that this is soon going to change. Remember though my Hilux is half cruiser so what are you really beating. By the way Fitzy John Auld in the Nelson club reckons the only reason the hilux goes anywhere is because the Cruiser front diff pulls it through.
About tyres I have 4 sets and it is really horses for courses . My Simexs are 32x10.5 and measure a bit over 33 so at the present time are thinking of selling them because they are little narrow and low for the ruts.Recently I have looked at silver stones and simexs.
The 35 silverstones are only 34 inchs. simexs have just released a 35x12.5 2 block which is nearly 36 high and that is my preference at the moment for places like Westport. At Reefton I wouldn't have any thing but BFG and if I didn't have a choice would stick with BFGs as they are a good all round tyre.

Some of those rocky canyons look like a bit of a hoot. Where are they?
(you can keep your mud, it is far too boring

)

This what we call bulletproof chasm because every person who saw this washout reckoned there was no way through.I didn't believe that and found where the deer hunters walked and then formed a route. People I have taken through say it is the best track they have ever done.
Read about it under "TIRP REPORTS, TRAIL REVIEWS----' bULLETPROOF CHASM TRACK REOPENED

I spy lots of old faces from my past days in CLORC in those pics.
Looks like Clive on the tray in the river, and that is Lindas' old 70, since Andy has had a play with it. All those tracks are bloody good as well. Did you complete the staircase from the old confluence track, or start at that end? Last time I was there was just in time to see it all getting washed away in xmas of 02 (i think).
When I have finished the full rebuild, might just have to head back to the coast for a look. I'll give you boys a holler.
