Terrano pulling to right when reversing

My 1991 terrano has been pulling to the right when reversing if the wheels start pointing forwards when I begin reversing. If I don't hold the wheel then it turns until it is about halfway to lock as I continue to reverse.
Going forwards is fine with no pull either way. Does anyone have any ideas why this might be. I did test this on a flat car park to remove the possibility of road camber being the cause.
I asked this question over at NPORA as well and someone thought it might be worn or damaged compression / tension rods or the bushings for the rods.
Does anyone know of a NZ supplier for replacement parts or would ordering from the US work out better?
I'm also looking for a reliable garage in Wellington with experience with terranos (the place I went for my car is good but they don't seem to be ideal for 4WD / offroad or diesel vehicles).
I'm also thinking about getting the suspension sorted out so any recommendations for that on this model would be really appreciated.
Cheers,
Dan.
