landcruiser axle info..?

Post by Big »

Toyota beam axles are from what I have read..

interchangable between models and years..?
40 series and 70 series are the same..?(length-front and rear- short side and long side)
60 series are are different..!( length-short is shorter..? and long is longer..?
Difference between them 40-70 short is longer than the 60 short..?and...40-70 long is shorter than the 60 long..?
conclusion.. and where i'm heading with this..(might be letting the cat atta the bag but fawk it..LOL :o )If I were to get a 60 long and my 70 short - get the axle housing made longer to suit the mod..would it be around 150mm or more longer than standard..?(seeing as the 60 series axles are about 100mm longer standard anyway) and seeing as this looks like to be a way cheap way to get better width for my 70...doing a SOA aand 35" with this combo also would I'm hoping net awesome travel and stability..
Anyone care to respond..?or help...
I'm trying to get the most out of my 70 without having to go 80 series or patrol axles..etc etc.. like Guts Hilux..
