Duals or gears?

After having had my Surf out recently in some rougher terrain, I have found I don't have as much low down power to help clear obstacles, trying to go slow to manoeuvre through rocks etc is awkward as I am stalling and having to slip the clutch too much.
I am trying to decide whether I should install 4.7 gears in the transfer case or go for a dual transfer setup.
A dual adapter is cheaper to buy but also means more money to modify drive shafts cross member etc, where as 4.7 gears are a bit more to buy but incur no other cost to set up.
Dual transfers means I can choose normal low range or low, low range, where as with the gears I am limited to one low range ratio.
What I am trying to decide is, Is fitting 4.7 gears to the transfer going to be too limiting off road? My truck is not a rock crawler but I do tackle a fair bit of rocky/rough terrain. But we also take the kids out down the river and tackle a few muddier spots on our trips away. So a bit of everything if you get what I mean?
2.8 Supra
4.88 ratio diffs
35 inch tyres.
Any thoughts???
