Not the best way to start the Week end
Offer them $10 bucks a week ... seems to work for the boy racers
My truck has been blowing water for a little while when on anything more than a trip to work so I finally started looking for the cause ....
Having checked everything else and discovered that it is blowing bubbles in the radiator ...
Time to consult a good friend & mechanic ... Some times I hate being right ... Time to take the head off ...

I got a fuel line and vacuum hose posted to me at work for the weekend (one step closer to running) and it was wrongly given to the stores guys. They rang and left a message which I returned and asked could they walk the 30 feet to the front desk and leave it there for me to pick up when I leave (I work 2km from the head office). No problem he said.
I get to the front desk and there is nothing there and the b-stard has gone early (I was 5 minutes early), infact everyone seems to have left early (they forgot to pass on the mesasage to the rest of us, but that is internal politics and has happened before) so I have no hoses and a very pissed off look on my face as I leave.
At least I have the stuff Tara13 sent me (cheers dude) to play with this weekend. Maybe next weekend I will be down to the short list of 'Stuff To Do'' and even ready to turn the key. Nah not that soon but getting close.

picked up my gearbox/trans case from the engineer tonight. He made the ca18de auto met the Hilux trans case.
Has worked out well. Rolled the trans a few degres so the front output doesn't stick down and the whole thing is only about 200mm longer than the ca18de was without any transfer case.

Will basically put the rear output about 50mm behind the original sj413 output location.
One holiday for 3 weeks now so hopefully by the end of that the engine/trans will be siting in there final place and the body will be looking like being on.

Well, I have now confirmed I am cursed with vehicles.
Was on my way to ChCh to get some goodies for the hippo, but never even made it to Kaikoura.
After spending nearly $4000 to remove a glow plug and do head work while it was off, the engine died today.
Managed to start it, but it wouldn't idle and blew HUGE amounts of white smoke.
Upon closer inspection I found a crack in the timing belt cover, and the threads of a bolt sticking out between the motor/cover
Looks like the tensioner may have let go? I'm just wondering how much is bent and damaged after spending all that money on the head
Might have to put the reg on hold and save up for a transplant I think

Jeezuz ! thats gotta hurt the 5th time round. whats blowing on them ? you have it supercharged eh ? have you de-compressed the motor at all ?

1st one was upside down for too long, 2nd one cracked the bore, 3rd one hydrauliced, 4th one was my mechanic putting a few things on wrong and 1st run with supercharger on the dyno caused a piston to crack, that is what the shop said yesterday, smoke was pouring out the rocker cover under load, not going to decompression the engine, we arent trying to squeeze everybit of power out of it, all up 5 engines with probably 150km's of use,and less than 2 years, i dare some one to beat that.

sheit dude, thats gotta suck...
today i managed to get stuck a couple of times, and find out that patrol door seals arent so much seals as water guides... result, passenger footwell covered in this clayey silty crap lol. didnt think it was actually too bad until i got home and took out the floor mats... they were doing a good job of hiding the silt lol. maybe time to get rid of the carpet i think.

bought a cheap old ifs surf, pulled lots of bits off it and added a few, should make a nice cheap ''fill in'' truck unless i get carried away as usual..
only had it for about 3 hours and it was stripped and slightly modded by comilux and myself, then we went playing down at the river, i forgot how fun night missions were.

just finished rebuilding my winch after stripping it to find out why it was impossible to get the dog gear disengaged, bruised shaft around the keys

bit of file and stone work and cleaned everything up and reassembled and now its mint again, even managed to do the shaft to winch allignment a bit better than it was
went for a fish saturday morning in my kayak and caught enough snapper to keep me fed for the next week, nothing to brag about but all fish aroung the 2 - 3 pound mark. nice eating fish

Hired a trailer today to pick up the stranded hippo, tried to get it on, and found it was too wide.
Back to Blenheim to get narrower rims, only to find I couldn't fit them over the front hubs. Managed to get 2 on one side and just squeezed on with the 33's on the other side.
Looks like something has let go under the timing belt cover, so the $3000 I spent on the head has been for nothing

Now awaiting the mechanics verdict on the cause and whether its repairable

well started on friday night and installed my new oil pressure ,water temp and tacho in the 40 .had kids sport on sat and took them to the new indiana movie so that was sat buggered .sunday spent the day in the garage.finished reinstalling clutch cover, driveshafts, pto shafts etc after having to drop the box out after the front gearbox input shaft seal pooed itself, leaving pools of oil everywhere.hooked up my new sanden ac pump thru a relay and pressure switch(man they pump some air

.then karl and al came round and spent a couple of hours with tuning module, timing light ,lamda sensor and vacuam gauge tuning up my engine with the new heads on.had a problem the other day with a misfire at about 5000 rpm ,turned out the the tacho was reading crook(hence the new one)and when it showed 5000 rpm it was actually doing 6000(cure was up the rev limiter).it just wants to keep revving yeeeehaa .took it for a test drive and had a bit of a problem keeping traction (hee hee).so now i,m almost ready for our annual foray in taihape at the home of hintz.just got to sort out recovery gear, spare parts, tools ,guns, ammo and all the other stuff that goes with a weekend away. rock on friday i say

malcolm, you might want to upgrade the axle studs to 10mm instead of 8's. knowing how you drive you'll break em all the time
