What do u prefer Road Tyres with mud chains or just Mud Tyres ...which is better out of the two?

I would go for mud tyres, less hassle, and on road tyres, you would have to put the chains on almost straight away unless its bone dry.

Have to agree with DaveM. Being that i am a bit lazy, muds are the preferred option.
In saying that and only seeing chains used a couple of times, it would appear that they can do the business. How well is the question, I would assume.
Chains would be a good option if you tend to stay on the tarmac and venture offroad a little less, thus keeping good road tyres on for the majority use.

Just a few thoughts

Chains are a pain in the arse they take a the long time to fit and i bet the first 3 or 4 times you use them 4 off road work one or more will fall off posiblly causing major damage and then you will go to hard and really stuff things up they should only be used as a last resort or on ski roads & slowly

What size tyres have you gone with sodhim?

Chains on a road tyre far out preform a Mud terrain type. But it is the hassle of fitting them, the uncomfortable ride and low speed. I usually use chains on a MT type.

Browndog, if you got proper chains and put them on correctly, they won't come off unless they are old and a link straightens etc.

7.50R 18 .... just bought aftermarket rear springs & torsion bars. Already got a bodylift, BJ flip & now will work on the torsion bars & rear springs....very keen on sway bar disconnects.

mate. just go and buy yourself some 33s or 35s. get a mud tyre. i promise you will not look back

And then sell your 18" wheels on trademe as every boy ricer is looking for them to go on their utes and you will recover over half of your costs

Yea ! I ve been often told to switch over ... I just wanna see what is the out come with the current setup ... the 7.50 18 measure up tp 35 inches !! ...yea its quite an experience so far ....

The only thing that will make your super dooper Pajero even cooler than a set of truck tahs would be some off a skidder. I reckon with a little guard massage they'll fit - piece of piss.

I'd try 13.6R24 with a tractor tread for a start to see how they go. They might rub but put your chains on and fit a rough track and drive fast - once the knocking goes away then they fit good. Once they no longer rub you can go up a size and repeat (fit chains etc).
