samurai starting problem

hi, went to start my samurai this morning and started as usual and then stopped. tryed to start again and the starter motor worked fine but didnt start the engien. then left it for a while came back then all the starter motor did was click. this is a total mistery to me i have duel batteries 12v.hope someone could shed some light on this thanks.

check the terminal connections, then the earth connections and connection to starter. Then check for spark if it turns over. Then check for fuel at carby.

Try jump starting it with jumper leads to make sure batterys are still good, otherwise try crash starting it
Sounds like it could need the famous "clicky starter fix" just google that + suzuki and you should find a bit about it...

well got the motor started (reluctantly) tryed jump starting and the starter motor actualy turned but very slowly( as if battery was flat) but i jumped it with my nissan terrano (got big battery in that 1) had to crash start but it took a few attempts as motor was cold then stopped the engien and tryed turning key then the clicking started again. looked at all the terminals and they look pretty corroaded so il have to fork out for some new leads.

Have you pulled the starter motor out since it stopped in the creek on that trip up my way a few months back? The starters are quite low and take on water readily. Mine did the same after driving it in the floods.

Pull it out, Pull the 2 bolts out of the back and it will come apart. Almost certain it will be full of rust and grud.

Doesn't explain why it stopped but gave mine a very intermitment starting prob that had all the symptoms of bad electrics. While your are at it check the alternator cause it will be the same.

ye its the white one and i have been swimming in water a few other times even deeper than that time a few mounths back. so il take it out next weekend have a quick look, is it easyer to take it out from the top of the engien or the bottom?
