Re: chinese air lockers
Why not just pick up toyota e-lockers. Cheaper than arbs and you get the heavier crown wheel and pinion. Bigger bearing too if i remember right.

Re: chinese air lockers
Elockers would be too slow for Choppers intended use and can only engage and disengage without load, not that they wouldn't be beneficial but I think the instant on Inttant off of the air lockers would be perfect for Chopper.
The ARB's have the same conditions on them but are a lot better tested and proven. How is the build going Chop?

Re: chinese air lockers
just a note to the earlier post re the warantee, ARB is the same ie not for oversize tyres and high hp repowers etc so provided the metal used in manufacture is of a sim quality then these are a better option and I would consider them myself for my next locker.

Re: chinese air lockers
Hi all,
I am new to this forum, wanting to know where, from whom I can get these lockers and prices in New Zealand.
By the way, I will say something about my personal view of these lockers, as a key member of the largest Chinese 4wd Forum.
Chinese made product are found with more problems in the market. But there are some good reasons for this. Too many products are made in China and big base number caused the fact more faulty products are perceived by users, i.e. 2 out of 20 non-Chinese made products faulty is same as 10 out 100 Chinese made products faulty, but people would only compare the number 2 with the number 10.
Also, China is huge country with huge population, people varies from ridiculously reach and extremely poor. So many manufactures can survive at different market level. So we can find both product with high quality and low quality.
In this case, the lockers imported here, I believe, are produced by a company named Haifeng, which is located in a relatively more developed costal area. (If who ever are selling them reads this, correct me if I am wrong, I also know they still owe you 10 sets of RD78? Right?) The factory has expanded in the market and survived in many years. They increased the range of product from which at the beginning only available on Cherokee to recent coverage of many popular 4wds in the market. The latest development is on Suzuki Jimny since there is a great increase in numbers of this car in China.
There are some facts around this in China. There was only one case I heard, that the locker broken by a Cherokee driver long time ago, not recently. The reason is that ARB ones are believed harder to get broken and almost all competition drivers use ARB. Most Chinese people believe, including me, that if you stop the vehicle, push the bottom, start moving slowly until you hear the click sound or feel the engagement, then start go hard but reasonably, these lockers can be as durable as others. However, people do have higher risk to control in competition, or have more financial power to emphasize their perceived higher quality, so choose ARB. We still believe that ARBs are better, and much harder to afford. They are almost twice the price than Haifeng in China.
I think the people here would care more about how Kiwi importer can control the quality of Chinese lockers, and how they can lower the price of ARB ones. This is the way of free market isn't it?
