2Lt Crankshaft

Can anyone tell me whether the 2lt crankshaft was made stronger than the 2l cause of having a turbo fitted, and whether it would be stronger than the 3l crankshaft.
Looks like i may need to replace my crankshaft on my 3l cause of some damage done by a keyway and pulley 'giving way' and its been suggested by a mechanic that there maybe a strenght difference between them.
Are the 2lt and 3l interchangeable? Has anyone heard of this?

different sizes. fitting a 2l or 2lt crank in a 3L will make it a smaller motor and you will lose performance.

changing the crank will not stop that problem from accuring. its common with diesels. best thing you can do is to loctite the new pulley on.

just check how bad the crank is. if the key way isn't totally flooged out you may be able to fit an new pulley and cold weld epoxy it on. you will never get it off so if harmic busts later on your in for a new crank. you will also need to section the front cover to get the cover on/off.

ok, don't like the idea of loosing performance. Was the whole idea of fitting turbo in the first place.. hated the snails and kids on trikes overtaking me. Cranks pretty flogged out, length of keyway and about 3mm( at a guess, don't have anything to measure the depth with), with a rip in the middle for about 10mm.
I still have alot of ringing around to do but what this guy said sounded interesting :?

doesn't matter with crank strength, the stock crank has more then enough strength. i doubt you will break it.

just be aware that they do commonly break on the rear bearing due to poor oil especially in imports. try to use your old crank if you can. if you have to get new crank get it fully tested, its worth the $$$ spent.
