Looking at putting power steering into an FJ40. Looked at the conversion kit from JT outfitters in the states. It looks remarkably easy and is based on custom gearbox bracket. I was wonderring what those of you with a greater knowledge than mine, (which would be most of you) think of the system. It doesn't look like fabricating your own bracket would be that hard.

the main reason i went with the way i did my conversion is that the normal conversion for the 40's is to put the box up inside the front corner of the cross member which was not an option for me as my winch fills the whole bloody space at the front. if you dont have a winch like mine there are so many options for the powersteer conversion.

yeah i got one of those brackets from southern 4wd,
suits a hilux steering box but with the original arm from the 40.
makes for a expensive setup, if you buy the box and bracket.
if i did it again i would use a sixty series box. these are bloted to the chassis direct and does away with the wee piviot in the corner of the chassis.
crawl under one and look for yourself. less ball joints to wear out and stuff too.
