I would have thought anything that helps keep the auto cool over and above the std cooler would be good. BNT carry auto coolers, or you could try your local radiator shop or auto trans repairer

I got my one for the Terrano from BNT as they were the best option then. It's about A4 size, being the second to largest size and works well, although a little too well on frosty mornings. I need a blind for it.

If you still have the factory radiator, you should route your extra cooler like:
- Out of tranny --> into auxiliary cooler
- Out of aux cooler --> into radiator cooler
- Out of radiator cooler --> back into tranny
That way, if the oil is too cold, the radiator cooler warms it up a little. Also, buy a cooler that has a bypass built into. That way the oil is bypassed from the cooler unless its hot enough that it needs additional cooling. B&M Coolers are like that.

you doing the radiator mod the surfs usually do ? (remove or cut down the trans cooler in the radiator to help with motor cooling).
the bypass thermostat is a very good idea. if the cooler doesn't come with one you can get them as a separate item. its lets the auto warm up to temp otherwise you can run into problems with overly cool trans fluid.

Tweakie and TJ, these hints n tips I know already but thanks anyway.
My cooler didn't come with a bypass thermostat, I am waiting for the auto tranny place to get one in so it can be added to the system.
Must ring them again re this.
