Ditto the sitting in front of the fire...
Southerly hit at 2:30 this morning, wondered about the safety of me garden shed.
Hail turns the streets white then sun comes and melts it.... Gotta love southerly squalie showers.....
Currently sunny but Brrrrrrr

have seriously considered selling it to get a cheap 1600 corolla or something, but it would be selling the only freedom i seem to have at the moment.
I'll just have to try and save the extra $2 I have left each week so I can go on a run

Was unsuccessfully trying to change the oil seal in the front of my transfer case when this happened, so I downed tools and headed inside for a beer.

didn't do anything on my 4wd since i am stuck at home ignition lock on my car clapped out the other day so i am stranded for the moment
decided i need to do something with my little suzuki since it costs a little less to run than both of my other vehicles
so i pulled it out of the shed this afternoon and pulled the motor out .got to put a new head gasket on the motor and it is easier to do when it is out of the car only takes 45 mins to pull the motor and gearbox out of it and i don't even need an engine lift to do it
oh yeah dropped my front brake lines for the g wagen off to get longer ones made up still got to sort out rear shocks exhaust and get the tie rod rebuilt then should have her back on the road

Finished servicing the cruiser after the snow melted. Transfer case and PTO box were full of a creamy substance that I imagine used to be oil. Gear box oil was fine. Greased up ball joints, and attempted to adjust rear brake shoes however the adjusters didn't play the game ( i think they're seized ) so will pull the drums off next week.

Unlike the guys down in Canterbury who found their trucks covered in snow, I woke up this morning to find my cruiser covered in sunshine
had our share of sunshine here too. was a hard frost this morning, when backing my cruiser out of its park it was spinning on the ice. As you can see the truck is basically sitting on top of the snow

Went for a wee look down the Ashley. This is parked out on the open river. Its all shingle under the snow. you can just pick out the rail bridge and the Alps in the back ground.

Spent much of the rest of the day stripping my laundry then took to the new tracks down the Ashley. Its all slush on top with lots of loss of traction but a firm base under it. I took a second attempt on a hole and some how ended up with my right front wheel in the left rut and due to the speed I had on it sledged side ways with the left wheel up on the bank until the rear right was up in the air and I was going no where forward or back as front and back wheels were trying to climb out of ruts sideways.

Mate tried winching me out but just winched himself down into the hole. So got a better footing off the track and I was impressed with his winch which pulled me down into the ruts which were too deep for my 33s and he pulled me part way out till his winch bound and I managed to wangle my way out.

fitted cam belt, removed and refitted steering box (just to reach one bolt that had to be tightened), removed and replaced the master cylinder and reservoir for the brakes, fitted the EFM and filter, did an oil change, fitted hoses for the radiator when it goes back on and looked at the power steering pump I have to swap from the old engine back to this one.
Still have to do radiator flush (oh and fit the radiator), replace the centre link (it's bent and rubs on the front diff), find where the earth from the battery goes to, fit extra earth leads, sort out switch and thermostat for the electric fan (check the fan works also), sort out a temporary muffler set up for when I run this thing up (neighbors don't like too much noise), get a battery and fit it, get some gas and finally say a prayer to what ever Deity/ saint that looks after engine repowers.
Simple really...
