Not sure what the set up is on the Bounty ...
On the Isuzu there is a water trap on the bottom of the filter ....
If there is on on the Bounty - Unplug the two wires that go to the sensor in the water trap and unscrew the filter complete with the water trap.
Then drain the diesel from the filter and trap and then seperate the water trap and fit it to the new filter.
Then fill the new filter with diesel before you refit it.
This saves a lot of time with the primer.
There should be a short bolt on the side of the filter mount ( It should be on the same side as feed to the injector pump )
undo this bolt and operate the hand primer until diesel comes the bolt, then tighten the bolt up.
You should then be good to go.

sometimes its easier to pull out the whole filter assembly depending on vechile of course.
first thing is to use a pair of pliers/vice grips (use something to protect the hose) or pull hose off and fold it over. you want to block hose off so fuel in the hose doesn't drain back to tank.
unplug sensor then unscrew filter. dump contents out. unscrew water sensors off the bottom and fit it on the new filter. screw new filter on, unclamp fuel hose and then pump primer untill hard. you can speed up the pumping by pulling the hose to the injection pump off and pump the primer untill fuel comes out, that way your not pumping air into the injection pump.
i don't like prefilling with fuel as you have to syphon some out of tank and risk getting crap in it which will go straight to the injection pump.

I like the clamp idea ... that would definitely save some time.
I have a 4 ltr container of diesel that I use for filling the filter ( this I filled at the gas station )
If your filter mount does not have the bleed bolt then do as tweake said take the feed to the injector pump off to avoid pushing air through to the injectors.
