Just find the wire from the cat and either cut it or short it out (cant remember how the switch works to get it to go out). Have you removed the cat? If not maybe it worth looking at it, could be faulty and replace it with a resonator?

cutting the wire at the cat just makes the light dim (on my 92 5dr).
4 screws, pull out the dash panel, 4 more screws, pull out the clocks. remove bulb.
very easy to do. :D
its an exhaust temperature light to warn of a blocked cat and the switches are shite by the number of failures ive heard about.
i fitted extractors and removed the cat. (then had problems but thats another story  )
feels like a new motor now.
hope this helps. :D

Definitely recommend removing the cat. In most imports, the cats run a much finer mesh than MZ spec cars and do actually block up on our crap 91 octane. They can sometimes be cleared out with a good, long, hot run. That's why I run at least 95 in all my vehicles. If you just want the light off, remove the cat-sensor wire from the cat' end and earth it out.
