Hi,

need to check my clutch as i dont seem to have anything working in that department after
a bit of a run through some mud drags last weekend.Havnt done this before but have a
Haines manual so ready to give it a crack.
My question is this, the manual says to drain
oil from transfer case and gearbox before taking out-is this nessesary?,took them out of my
Sj413 without draining them, any help much appreaciated.

cheers Al

Had thought (read somewhere also) that you can open the clutch up (someone sitting in the vehicle operating the clutch) and drench it water and then with brake cleaner to celan the operating surfaces. Would make a hell of a mess though (you are going to get really wet and dirty) and I guess the engine would need to be running to turn it. May be it would be a quick fix or of course it may not work. Might save some $$$ though if it does work.

Have to source the bell housing cover so it wont happen again, eh Al.

Almost faster to rip the donk out, then to take all the shit off the gearbox (drive shafts, etc) before you can even get to it.
