hey
Both engines are pretty good we see the odd td27t cylinder head crack which is generally just an overheating issue ,the only thing really to be a little weary of on the later td27t and 32 is the electronic controller on the injection pumps ,haha should have stuck to good old manual pumps!!!!

hey like anything good when they are ok but can be a bit of a nightmare if they start playing up even a second hand pumps are quite costly, all that aside bottom ends are good and as long as compressions are good, there a sweet donk also just check for any diesel leaks around the pump, the 32s seem to go pretty good me mate tows his sprintboat all round the country and never misses a beat!!
cheers

tell ya what, if i was to buy another truck i would get an old hilux like this
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =160885249i have an old landrover Series3 with V8 in it, good but not for hard core 4x4. I have a nissan safari gq swb, with 4.2l diesel, solid truck but underpowered without a turbo for the weight it is. Hilux's just take a hammering and seem more practical. i guess just look around at what options you need.

Older models pre 94 had rust issues in the floor pan where the front is welded to the back, hop under it, or lift the carpetr to check it out. Also check for worn steering, if it has been lifted the steering geometry will be all out, evident by excessive side where on the front tyres. Buy a safari.

You're welcome to have a look at mine any time Mike.
There isn't really anything much that goes wrong with them. I have had a great run out of mine so far.

Would have thought you would get Safari for less than a Mistral, most swb's I've seen were around $6k

My missus has a mistral and all it is, is a smaller version of a terrano, therefore that much inherently weaker. Yes it has a proper 4wd transfer case and all, but all it is good for is ice and snow on a tarseal rd and shingle rds . I find my pig safari better to drive then the mistral.
