I need it running for Costa plenty next week.

First point of call is the weakest system on an engine: the electrical system...............

Replace the coil ($15), i bet that solves ya problem :D

what fuel are you running?? i always through 95 in mine, if i leave it sitting around for a while, ie a week or more, i have to remove the plugs and give them a quick clean, one thing i have found is that these motors need to be driven everyday, for a while, once they get warm they arent too bad but need a good run really, quite often.

best of luck

Probably fouled up plugs. Pull and clean them all - I always carry a spare 8 - lol

I have found all Rover V8s are over fuelled and under sparked. Saving for a HEI set up for my Rangie. :)

Let us know what it is.

i use 95 fuel in it, and try to drive it at least three times per week. the main problem as ypu say is when its cold. i dont think the choke is working on it. i will be pulling carbs of today to check them and possibly swap them over with another set
i will pull all the plugs as well and maybe new leads too.

I may have craked it :) :) i have increased the diameter of the fuel line from the fuel pump and then dialed up the carbs to run a bit richer, it has made a huge change, but not quite rid of the heitation at 3thou revs :x i will take it down to the carb centre next week at get the to put a balancing guage on the carbs to see if i have set them right. I used the air tube in the ear trick :? not to bad as you can pick up the air flow sound diffrence.See you at costa plenty on Sunday
