I thought some of you chaps might enjoy it. It is very addictive, and I keep planing a trip back there.

Ideally with a vehicle other than a Jeep which were often disappointing.

This had just been built before the event and was very tidy. Some of the vehicles were dry sumped and would quite happily run upside down.

You must of had a ball over there dude.
Have to look into a trip over at some stage. We had a couple of USA guys looking at coming over here to have a run with suprasurf and I, only because their rocks don't include the water element, and they thought that would be cool. Never heard any more about it though. :(

Yes it was a great trip. It was just by chance too, I had seen few pics here and there and thought it'd be cool but never did anything about it. When working in Vail a collegue goes over (from Vail to Moab) every year and his vehicle was in the car park. Naturally we got talking and my flight tickets got changed to suit!

The one with the buggies was just a group of mates out for a play doing a trail called proving grounds, other trails called potato Salad Hill, The Dump bump, Hells Revenge, Moab Rim, The golden spike, The wedgie. All the other trails you could take a relative standard vehicle round - by relative std I mean an everyday vehicle such as the yellow jeep and the black one I was running in.

Alot of the trails are not to bad to do, and with a bit of care you could get a pretty standard vehicle round apart from lots of bangs underneath. The challenge comes from bits just beside the trail where there will be a real doozey and thats where the fun is.

We rented a couple of TJ's on standard wheelbarrow wheels and took them where we shouldn't have but they preformed surprisingly well, helped by the fact the rock there is so incredibly grippy, even in the rain. The only rock similar I have seen in NZ was over at Denniston.

Regarding the water - they don't like water and mud typically, not a snorkel in sight and aftermarket filters everywhere. Warn winches are not sealed and after going to the states you see why they don't bother - The market for mud is probably pretty limited and they will work forever on these vehicles when kept dry.

Let me know when your going - I'll be the tour guide :D
