spent Friday night and too much of today putting the head back on my daughters car ... Missed the seal on the end of the cam shaft
Then went out to have a look at a track along a riverbank a friend had told me about.
Decided that it was not the place for a single truck and started heading out and got stuck
Having tried a few things that did not quite work, decided that it was time to get the hand winch out when a duck shooter turned up and offered to tow me out. ( Thanks dude )
10 min later and a gentle pull from his flash Toyota got all 4 wheels gripping again and away we went.
Must set up the disconnects for the sway bar and get lockers

Not your conventional four wheel driving but he did put the Nissan in four wheel drive to carry out his manouvre!

As they say, don't argue with a Nissan!

I went out to aotea for a few hours today and saw this fulla digging to try and stop taz01 from getting out of a hole

but all he managed to do was make him exit the bog sideways and do this................

now lets all just sit back and wait for those incriminating pics that Curly took.

I'm not so sure about Jerry being the asian anymore, coz Curly just doesn't stop clicking, not to mention the squinting eyes.

Oh and thanks Sadam for letting me borrow your beanie to keep my head warm

spent all weekend working on the Hydrogen generator for the Diahatsu, been busy designing and refining the genarator coils over the last few weeks, finally got them to produce 1.7-1.9 litres per minute of HHO (Hydroxy) installed the coil in the Daihatsu and did some testing.

drained fuel tank ....

Added $20 fuel (9.95 Litres)
drove 105 km open road driving with Hydrogen genarator turn OFF @ an average speed of 90kph (hey thats as fast as a Fez will go) before it started to splutter and die ran out totally at 106 km

refuelled with $20 fuel for return trip. turned Hydrogen genarator ON for return trip. same route @ same average (90kph) speed.
first sputter at 150km and finally died at 152km.

thats a 47km increase on my usual distance ... altho i will need to do way more testing as i cant base everything on the one test but inital signs are promising for a major saving in fuel costs,

as a matter of interest mid range torque was up as well on the return trip, i notice i wasnt chopping down to 4th on the hills like i normally would have done. ... hmmm definatly more testing needed. :D :D

Note I havnt played with the O2 sensor on the exhaust yet, it's still in default factory tune, my next progect after the generator is to build a EFIE (EFI enhancher) this will give me the ability to "tell" the ECU to lean out the fuel a little more on highway driving with even more savings

Thats near enough to 30% increase, pretty impressive although wouldnt it be better to run the exact same track. Maybe the trip home was down hill? Even so not bad. I bet it was a hiclone or magnet that did it for you though.

lol magnets?? what magnets :D .. as for running the exact same track i did think about doing that but the run i took it on is pretty flat with no major hills and would even out with uphill sections and downhill sections. yeah 30% is pretty good considering the hydrogen genarator owes me about $20 so far (and that was for the stainless steel wire to make the coils) the rest was crap lying around the farm and such.

*shudder* Auntie Helen as a friend :? :D

do a google on hydroxy or browns gas, hydrogen genarators theres a load of info on them .. it's 90 year old technology that is becoming popular again due to the ever increasing fuel costs.

the best resource ive found is this site http://www.smacksboosters.110mb.com/ they have a well detailed free pdf on how to build your own genarator using plates .. i used part of this design and ideas from this site http://www.water4gas.com/ as i liked the idea of coils better than the plates, combined the info on both sites and came up with my own design.

the water4gas site is a bit comerical and im sceptical on some of the claims from the installs on gas savings ... however ive proved on my own beast that it does work and does save fuel ... ive got a fair bit of tinkering to do to see if i can improve on the savings ...if nothing else it improves mid range torque that will be usefull off road.

As a matter of interest there are kits coming onto the market later in the year ... pricing is said to be between $800-$1200 but that includes the EFIE and all other hardware, im just too cheap to spend that sort money :)

rather than highjacking the This weekend achievment thread anymore ive started a new one in Petrol engines and mods
viewtopic.php?f=47&t=11988 .. anyone with ideas drop by.

Eventful week with returning from Aus last weekend.

Finished the 40mm body lift, wiring etc etc.
Shortened up the front bumper.
Fitted new rims and 33" Buckshots.

Went up to Thomos this morning for a little test and everything seemed to work well. Buckshots have made a huge difference. Considering the last trip was on 31" AT's.

Couple of snaps of the Thomos highway and play area below (Cheers to xj for photos).

Also meet up with a small team trying to resue a hilux. Some of the team were able to help out and some of us watched.

Cheers to all those I meet and caught up with.

got pretty drunk on friday ended up in a police car lucky i jumped in the right one

went for a mission made up some chromoly trailing arms with 3/4 chromoly rod ends and spacers to fit patrol mounts
extended my shock mounts for my efs extreme shocks but cant seam to get them extended far enough at rest so might
get the plasma cutter onto it and extend them out into the engine bay

started rear shock mount Lift

Idear is to lift rear shock mounts so its less likely to get bashed on stuff which it does do and side benefit being it well let the wheel drop alittle further for better artic.I have measured shock to make sure it wont bottom out.

Std mount before work started VVV

Image

Mount cut off with cutting disc, cut approx 40mm out of middle section of mount and reused lower section which was welded back to diff. VVV

Image

Lower section welded back in place VVV

Image

Only done right side you should be able to see the differance from left, well do left side this weekend.hardest part was making sure lower section pin was correct alignment so it wont slog out the shock seals.well give it a flex test on weekend so if theres any noticeable change.
