Runva Winch Woes

Post by kiwipete »

Having just been up the Waimak for a play, im still here as I type actually, I had to use my winch to get out of a tricky spot between a couple of trees.
No the problem is that my winch appears to be dead.
Nothing happening at all when I used the wireles or hand held remotes.
Has anyone had issues with their winch like this?
I will be having a look at it when I get home, but thought id post up just incase someone has suggestions before i get home.

Aint the internet grand when your'e out n about?
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

mine has done the same thing (three times)...

first time it was the solonoid control box, replaced under warranty (other symptom clicking sounds when tryin to use the winch)
second time was a loose connection in the the controller, by taking it apart and tightening the ring around the one off swith (symptom, the one off switch fell out of the controller)
third time it was the motor, replaced under warranty, hopefully I just got a faulty unit and now with everything replaced it should be all good, I have to say Michael (they guy I bought it off on trademe) was incredibly helpful and eplaced the borken parts without question, symptom the motor was slow then it died, once agn with the clicking sounds.

Sorted, it was that stupid red switch on top of the relay box. It wasn't working so I have now wired a new switch into the dashboard to keep it out of the moisture. 8)
I know these are a cheaper version of a winch etc, but why do they bother with such crappy switches.
