Check out
http://www.clubisuzu.com and ask the question there - heaps of knowledge on the old Isuzus..
From my experience, get the diesel compression and leakdown tested and if it drives nice, and you want one - buy it. They are a good truck, with lots of go and they are pretty comfy and normally well optioned with things like bum warmers and a/c.
There are lots of simple mods for good offroad ability like front balljoint flips and bumpstop shaves and I can supply good cheap lifted rear springs for them too. (torsion bar front - but that can be lifted easily enough).

The only real down side of it for me is its IFS, I really want a Solid axel but in saying that IFS has its good points.

Then budget a spare $2500-3000 and I'll leaf or coil convert it for you with a Hilux solid axle. You will have to wait until I have finished the MU first tho - no more big jobs till the MU is cert'd.

How long would it take to do a conversion like that? It could be something I mite be interested in.

Given time to assemble the components first and clear all other work in the workshop it could probably be completed in or under 3 weeks (giving myself time to allow for unforseen circumstances that may require fabrication / machining etc...

Hows it ppl? Ive got a 91 isuzu bighorn 2.8 intercooled td.Its a beaut truck and it gets me to my fav fishing haunts along the coast with ease.
I just done a compression test on it and these are the results:
CYLINDER 1 260
CYLINDER 2 260
CYLINDER 3 280
CYLINDER 4 260
Do you reckon thats about norm for a 91 model 2.8 itd with 192000km on the clock? I have no idea.
