Can i ask why? The Rugger 2.8 engines aint light, and may be a little to heavy for the smaller rockys, as the Ruggers are a bigger, and entirely different vehicle.

Whats wrong with the 1.6 anyway?

Anything is possible, just how much you want it, and how much your prepared to pay for it..

Personally, for a Rocky, i would stay with a petrol engine. e.g. 4age or similar....even 3.8 commy. Now that would be cool.

I really wouldn't know im sorry, but a toyota 2.8 would be easier to find than a Rugger 2.8.

best sticking with petrol the way things are going. road tax for deisel has gone up, fuel prices for it are going up and then there is service costs.

also with what ever you change to you are going to find gearing a problem unless you spend big dollars adapting the gearbox/tcase to the new motor. have a look into getting the origonal motor worked and turbo'd etc either that or find a 2ltr or bigger petrol and sp;eend the dollars getting it fitted.

otherwise id leave it how it is maybe run a set of 30'' tyres so that on the open road it revs less and still has a bit of grunt for the hills. i wont run less than 31s on mine but i need the clearance and i pay for clearnce with the loss of power on the hills, if you do this remember get your speedo recalibrated i didnt and it cost me $180 and 35 demerits thought i was doin 110 so new i was in the shit when the cop flashed his lights at me i got done for doing 124

30's should fit may rub a little in the front end though. 31's rub with the torsion bars wound up 65mm but only on the top of the gaurd. just ask if the tyre shop could fit a set up for you to see if they will clear on the agreement that if they fit you'll buy them.
