Has anyone here got a 2.5 diesel Navara?
I'm hoping to use the turbo and manifold from one of these on another slightly smaller nissan engine. I'm hoping someone knows when these things start to deliver boost.

i assume you do not mean the TD25.

one thing to watch is if there is any changes in head/manifold from 1st YD25 to 2nd YD25.
yours common rail ? if not proberly the turbo out of the 2 wheel drive navara might do. otherwise there is a version in a front wheel drive car which would proberly fit better.......not sure which model its in.

Yep the YD22. The manifold ports look the same as the later YD25 but I'll have to measure up and check. I'll have to make an adapter plate to rotate the turbo anyway.
In the UK the primeras, almeras etc have had the commonrail turbo YD22 for ages, but mine has the computer controlled rotary injection pump. Interestingly it's got a place for the turbo control solenoid to sit and even a plug to hook it in. But I suspect it won't have the brains on the other end of that plug.

I want a GT1749V turbo for it, but they're difficult to find here. The YD25 has a GT2056V which is substantially bigger but hopefull will still have enough low end boost.
Are the older D22 navaras with the YD25 variable vane?

1st YD25 was normal turbo, 2nd YD25 is variable turbo.

be interesting to see if the ECU has a low boost cut out.

I still haven't found the ECU in this car. Every hiding place I've checked is empty. Nothing in the kick panels, nothing behind the glovebox, couldn't see anything in the centre when I was installing the stereo.
