I bid on a safari last night and opted out at $3500. The bidding continued so I turned it off and had dinner. When I got back to the compter half an hour later the wanker had posted a buy now of $3500 ( when the top bid had been higher ) and someone else had taken it
C..ts like that piss me off

The Auctions Act covers those sort of problems - sue the prick through the small claims tribunal - costs are minimal

The Auctions Act covers those sort of problems too - sue the prick through the small claims tribunal - costs are minimal

From TradeMe rule 13
For auctions, you must sell to the highest bidder if the reserve price is met. You must only sell to a bidder who is not the highest bidder after reasonable attempts have been made to contact the winning bidder without success.

I didnt think you could, as a seller, post a buy now, or alter a reserve after the first bid had been placed.

I think you can lower the reserve, but not go higher.

How does it cover these problems? Curly was outbid by 3 people, the sale for some reason didn't go ahead, so it was offered so all those bidding/viewing had the same chance to purchase it, so first in first served.

I had that one on my watchlist too, the guy had to have been bidding himself with another account, as the trademe email implied that he could make a fixed offer when it fell through with the top bidder, there was no way that would of happened within 5 minutes.
