Howsit all, Ive fitted my lift kit to my yn65 hilux, the kit is all maxitrac, springs and shocks, Now the problem is The truck is lop sided, saging on the lefthand side. Anyone struck this problem?? I've double checked all springs are in correctly and all looks good so im a bit stumped?? It only sags on the left front, the rear is all good.
any info would be good thanks.

have you got them in the right sides, the front springs have a ps (passenger side) and ds (drivers side) on them, that is usually the problem.

Id say you have them in the wrong side as rangimotors has said...there is usually a small sticker on the spring .

I have check that and ps and ds are on the right sides so im stumpd?? Could the torque rod have anything to do with it??

Is that left side as you stand looking at it (drivers side)? If yes then that sounded like mine (fuel battery and fat bastard all on one side). I got an adjustable track rod (whatever thingee) for the front but dont think it made a difference (mine was butchered anyway by previous owner so that probably didnt help to start with) Try disconnecting the rod but beware if it is under tension then it will be a bitch to get out and harder to get back in.

Wow I was wondering if anyone else had this problem!
I have 2" lift maxitrac leafs on my 70 series. it leans to the left hand (passenger) side about 1/2 inch.
sometimes it leans more and sometimes less. I think the leafs have a lot of friction or something and dont slide past eachother cos it seems to stay how you leave it. If you lift one side an inch by hand it doesnt go down again...
also the front only lifted about an inch not 2.

Shyte, landrover had the same problem, just hop in your truck and end of problem, see no evil...

Had this problem got a replacement still the same so i run one spring less in pass side

Hell yes.L/H side is 30mm lower..Maxi trac man here in ChCh (4wd Stuff)didnt want to know about it :x :x :x

Seems to be a common problem with this brand? How are they priced compared to the well known brands like Dobinson, OME etc?

Bout the same Dave..I think about the $220ish mark,it was part of a package so im not 100% sure.I was thinking of trying some Dobi's??

I have run TD, OME, EFS and Dobinson, and have gone back to my original 3" dobinson coils. The EFS were a very nice riding coil, but sagged unevenly.

I'm possibly going to run the Dobinson 3 1/2 high flex coil which will give you a 3 1/2" lift, but will allow you to run a 5" lift shock for extra travel, but they are only available in oz as far as I know.

Have you looked into shipping some over? If so how much would you be looking at?

had a similair problem with my ln65 d/cab sagging on passenger side. i loosened off all u-bolts and shackles and let it sit for awhile and took it for a short drive and it corrected it quite a bit. often if you do the ubolts up off the ground you'll load the springs up.

ive had similar problems with old man emu springs, the truck tends to sag to the right. shaking the vehicle seems to straighten it out a bit, only to sag again once driven.

Went into Autolign here yesterday and came up with some options..what do yoy guys think??

Longest travel shocks i can get are Raw Nitro with 654mm travel and
Dobi springs, i can get 3inch or 4inch Heavy duty??

Just to sum up, I have a SWB with 33's that currently has 2in Lift LWB(apparently)in the rear with EFS 30mm coil spacers.
The truck just sits with the rear higher than the front..which is good :) and has only a small vib at 85km
What i want is to have this ride height without the coil spacers :| I have dropped both swaybars and now its my shocks that are restricting rear flex so im keen to do the shock mount reposition and some longer travel shocks.With the current set up i can flex till the shocks stop and the coils are still captive but since i want to go to 35's eventually im hoping to get this bit sorted now.

Please any feedback/ideas on this would be appreciated as i've had this f*#ked up for me b4 and want to get it right this time. 8)

I run 3" dobinsons, and made the mistake of buying TJM shocks a few weeks ago. While they are a good shock, they are too short, even though they are meant to be for a 3" lift.
I would start with the coils, then measure the longest shock you can use.

I have found that because a lot of shops ar limited to the range of shocks they sell, especially for bigger lifts, too many are selling them as a 0-2" or 2-3" for example, which IMO is bollocks.

The local shop tried selling me EFS extreme shocks to suit mine, and they were over 750mm long, and was told they were the only shocks to suit :roll:
Do your own measurements and go from there, if I run a lift, I want to make the most of the coil length and run the longest possible shock, which will also stop excessive topping out at full travel if they are too short

I ran 700mm shocks on my dobi's and they were about perfect, but they were sold on the GQ, so from now on, all my shocks/coils will be purchased in oz, where they seem to have a lot more knowledge and range of gear, or at least go to someone that has succuessfully modded GQ's and knows what they are on about (4wd bits for example)

I run Koni 88 series adjustable shock which is 750mm extended, 455mm compressed, in the rear of my Nissan. Part number is 88-1457 may be right for what you are after. The shocks have worked a treat so far. I also run a 88 series koni in the front but i think that would be far to long for your application.

Anoter option for you mudbum could be to run 80 series 2" lift king springs in the front. My dad has done this in his truck and it has given him about 4" lift and are workign really well. He did try the dobis but they dropped a coil on the drivers side.

me 91 d cab hilux had same thing with maxi tracs (and monroe gas magnums), i reckon what the person said about loosening the u bolts is on to a big piece of the puzzle, mine loosened it's own as they do on first install (i'd torque wrenched them up), i then kept checking it after any decent distance travelled first of which turned out to be a good road trip then a 3 hour trail. Basically it started out lop sided and at the end of the trail was sitting tail a bit tail high (typical ute i think) but otherwise not leaning very much at all.
It got re torqued then and 2 more times after more k's and has stayed the same since, i reckon the ancient leaf spring just needed some reasonable axle travel to work them a bit and settle them in, the loosening bolts allowed them to slip to where they wanted to be and the re tourqe pinched them happily
I only did my springs anyway cos the r front was sagging badly, i'd seen other peoples re set springs start to sink again after a year or so, so i pickedthe maxis cos they were cheap and fortunately they've worked out ok in the end good luck with yours

I have a full set of 4' lift tough dog springs i got off trade me last year. the guy said there were made just for his hilux ,but he ran out of funds. There a awsum leaf spring. haven't sagged or gone lop sided like i read about maxitrac leafs
