Re: custom snorkle
i reckon 3 inch is plenty, what sort of engine do ya run?
i just bought some 3 inch 90 degree bends the other day only 12 dollars each thought that was pretty good

its a td42 non turbo

Looking at doing similar work to an LD28 in a Landrover. Considered 3 inch ample and now just need to figure what I am going to do for an airbox and the snorkel head.

Hi Rangimotors,
Were the 3" 90 deg bends mandral bent, what was the thickness and where did you get them from as $12 seems like a good price, I want to do my exhaust in 3".
Thanks
Tim

Re: custom snorkle
yea pretty sure they are mandral bent, certainlt not crush bent. i would say about 2mm thick but they have everything and anything you could ever want. check out http://www.atlasmetals.co.nz i bought stuff from their chch branch but then ended up going to the wellington factory as part of my job, it was very cool.

Thanks for that Dave. Exhaust place wanted $20/bend. Atlas $13/bend.

If you plan on turboing it then 3" will be too small. 4" looks better anyway!!!!!!!
The other thing to consider is the longer the snorkel is the bigger the tube needs to be to get the same airflow. Don't fall into the trap of using the airbox inlet size as a guide. If it doesn't tapper to that point there will be a restriction.
