tyres on my scudo

Post by amateur »

ive just got myself a scudo and was wondering how hard it would be to fit 32" tyres and is there any roll cage that you dont need a cert for?

hi mate and welcome to ORE!!

i have a 2 inch suspension lift on my scud and 32's are a bit too big. im getting a 2 inch body lift soon and trimming the arches to get 32" mongrels under it.(providing my mate sell the mongrels to me  )

the wheel offset is a big factor as well, as far as i can see. i tried 31's with a big offst wheel and they caught under the arch and the bumper, so choose your wheels carefully!!

oh, and if you have an auto you will want to get 5.12 diffs in it, or you will struggle :D

hi mate.
i seen and heard of quite a few scuds running 31's so i dont think that will be a problem with a manual.
i was going to try 32's myself as ive not heard of anyone running them without a lot of (expensive) work done.
im not sure about offset yet either as ive not got the front end trimmed and lifted quite enough to try with my mate 31's but they have reversed centres and are a big offset.
someone on here will be able to tell you.
i think INEIL runs 31's with a +10 offset rim (not 100% though) but il find out from him.
cheers
steve

Yep, I run 31 x 10.5's on a 15 x 8 speedies (steels) with a -15 offset. Ive got 1inch body-lift, about 2inch suspension lift and have hammered the cr*p out of the lower rear edges of the front wheel-arches (bottom of the footwell). I have removed the plastic inner front wheel-arch liners and cut away a small triangle of steel panel at the bottom rear of each front arch. I get a tiny bit of rub at the footwell on one side, only because the control arm on that side has been belted into large immovable objects a couple too many times .

The rears just rub on the top of the rear arch as they tuck in under compression, but this will be fixed by going to a 2inch body-lift.

Prior to the 31's I was running 30 x 9.5's on 15 x 7 ROH steels with a +10 offset, and they had no rub issues at all, except for minimal chassis rub on full lock. If I had bothered, this could have been removed with only a slight tweak of the steering-stop adjuster bolts.

Hope this helps,

Leigh

Gidday mate the cage you asked about yes there is ...
you can legally add a 4 piont (B pillar and brace ) provided it dosnt come close to the head space of the driver /passanger and there are no seats under it .... so if you want 1 you can't have your back seats
