Surf Chassis Differences

Hi,
Can anyone tell me if the 3 dr IFS Surf chassis (late 80"s) is the same as the 5 dr IFS Surf chassis (early 90's).
The reason I ask is that I have a 3 dr chassis that I want to use for doing a trial fit of the suspension mods (coils all round with lots of articulation) and motor transplant before I then put the mods into a 5 dr which I have yet to purchase.
