Alloy welding Chch

Post by kiwipete »

I have just bought another of these roof racks nice n cheap ($50.00) and want to cut the two of them long ways and join them together to make it a custom width to fit on my truck. Image
Does anyone here in Christchurch weld aluminium or know someone who would weld it back together for a reasonable price, ie. bloody cheap? 8)
Failing this I might have to pop rivet the two halves together. They will be well supported on the roof bars when mounted anyway and its only the outside frame that gets cut and welded..
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

Thanks for the ideas guys but I have now decided to cut it and pop rivet it back together.
Job is done, all I need to do is find a suitable set of roof bars to attach it to. :? I have some in mind, but are a tad expensive just at the mo, i'll bide my time.
