CONVERTING YOUR OWN ELECTRIC L/C & PRADO HUBS TO MANUAL

For those owners of landcruiser & prados with electric hubs, i can convert them to manual. To engauge, install a allan key into a capscrew on the hub face and turn 2'25 turns anticlock wise, to disengauge simply turn clock wise.
It is a cheaper option than any other methods.and you are still useing your own toyota hubs.

Just to refresha to let you 4x4 members know of this product.
If you hear of anyone having problems ,please let them know.
I have been trying unsusesfully to get a pixs to load, if someone can give me a simple step by step instuction,please.

I take it this manual over-ride system will still work on non-functioning electric hubs?
I've got a price for the adaptor rings for fitting manual hubs for a customer - and the bloody ring kit is almost the same price as the hub kit itself!

Falsgrave Auto Spares were the cheapest people I could find for the adapters...

Your quite right, the adptor kit is about $170, with my conversition you use the cruiser ariginal hubs, so no need for the ring kit.100% L/C.Running them on my own Prado, and have converted 8 units so far.I carry made up parts in stock.So can change over and return same day.

Forgot to answer your question, works on none functioning hubs, the electric motor is replaced with a dummy motor. that is manually activated.

Supralux has reminded me to ask the other half of his question!
Can your manual system still be operated normally via the electrics?
I understand how your system works and think its a good idea and was wondering if the Caphead manual driver could be connected to the el motor inside the unit whilst still keeping it functional? Its been a while since I changed my front diffhead and had a look at these units.
I have to say I like the electric hubs on my 93 SWB Prado, both for the factory engineered robustness of the mechanical components and also the ease of use.
However I can also see the vulnerability of the exterior cabling and have already shifted these as far away from the tyres as I can. Obviously my concern is a failure out in the Bush hence the idea of a dual method.
PS Nice name Old Blue, I have a very old racing Vauxhall that has been called Old Blue since 1908! It was never ever beaten in open class Competition for the 5 years that it raced.

The extra engineering that would have to be done to acheve electric and manual would put the price up, i dare say i could do it, Most owners are fedup with there electric's and just want to go manual.This is simple, and cost efficant fix.

Well, I've mentioned it to a couple of people on trademe so if you get any enquiries from someone who mentioned it there I'd like my commission in un-used bills in a brown paper bag. leave it under the bridge at midnight and make sure the feds don't follow you
Seriously, my trade price on the adaptor rings is around $180 - I just can't justify to people that $450 including hubs is a sensible retail price to solve that problem. You could damn near fit an entire Hilux axle for that!... well, you could buy one complete, anyway.
It will be interesting to see what response you get tho, I've had a few people ask...
