Me Mates got a Zuk but knows sqwat about it....

Post by Bubba »

He keeps asking me, as I have a 4WD and therefore in his mind this automatically makes me the receiptical of all 4WDing knowledge.

All I know is how to put in 4WD, get stuck, get dirty, have fun. Sometimes I can even get unstuck.

From what I can gaver his Vitara has no rear LSD. He triies going over the Devils Elbow around Redrocks but dropped the rear into a hole. Now I would have thought as he has no LSD that the rear tyre in the air would spin away but that the front would pick up the slack and pull it through.

Can somebody give me the good oil, things to watch for, good cheap tyres as his road tyres are shagged anyway

tips etc, anything would be good.

You can squeaze 30 X 9.5 R15s with wider off set rims on to Vitaras with minor adjustment to the steering stops.
31 X 10.5 R15's with some guard trimming.

Cheapest mud tyres you can find are all ya really need. Firestone ATX's are V good.

You can buy new coils for Vitara to give up to 50mm ride height increase.
Will make 31 X 10.5's easier to fit.

Diesel Boy, I should have guessed you would be the first to reply, ta bud, he's new to the game and he's afraid to get durt on his new toy let alone start pulling it to pieces. I think a set of A/T on his factory rims is what he's looking at, he also does a lot of km's each day for his work so M/T would be out.

I am talking him around to having a look at this site and then buying tow hooks, recovery gear etc from here, little steps, then once he's scratched the paint, dented it etc (which will happen) ....

Diesel Boy as always, you got the good oil

No worries.

My old man has a 5dr Vitara.

I,m keeping my eye's out for a very cheap 2dr, like a write off or something.
Tough truck (well, rough truck at least)

Best A/T's seem to be the BFG ones. Pricey though.
GT Radial Savero's are good and their cheap to.

The ATX's are very very hard wearing on the road with a milage guarante, and are generaly about $230 or less each.

The Mrs saw his and declared that we needed a thiird vehicle. The first time we agreed in ages, and even more amazing is that we both want the same thing, a 2dr 4WD, but thats where we stop agreeing. I want a Crusier, Safari or even Suk, roff, high, muddy and mean. She wants a wee Suk or Rav girlie thing.

Let the war begin!

Truth be known, I need to get a new job and to get rid of my company car so I can justify it, not to mention pay for the one we have now..... while I'm there..... win 15mil, get a new wife, or at least recondition the one I have, trade the kids in for a couple of hunteraways, (much easier to look after)l:wink:

GT Radial Savero's, yeah they sound like him. Now I can appear all knowledgeabill an shit when I talk to him.
