my starter motor seems to have pooped it self over the weekend, It turns the motor over, but only ones or twice, the battery is low on power to, so we tryed to jump start it, but that didn't work the leads just got hot and that was it.

Im going to try the vans battery tonight but if that doesn't wotk it's most likely to be the starter motor.

So yea if anyone has a starter motor for a 2lt ill br keen to buy it if the problem is not the battery

Cheers.

take it out, undo the 3 screws on the plate on the back of the solenoid. inside should be a piston and 2 contacts. replace the contacts or just sand them up a bit, clean the contact surface on the piston and she should be all good. test it before you chuck it back in - hook up a battery to it - positive to the main terminal, earth to the mounting flange, then touch a small wire to the solenoid terminal.

if not, i've got one too.

my lux starter was dead, had seized bearings and dodgy contacts, just gave it a rebuild and now its mint no need to replace just try rebuilding it. plug the breather holes too, it will stop crap getting in,the auto sparkys reckoned the holes were useless anyways

Yeah mate all L series engines starter motors are interchangable. There are slight differences through the years but all will work fine with each other. 1KZ starters are different
