no replacement for toyota.

Post by scs »

been here for a wee while now but thought I'd finally get around to introducing myself. Names Sam, currently apprentice mechanic but will be leaving the trade for university at the end of the year. One day just decided to buy a 4wd and as you all know things never stay completely standard for long.

I bought a 2.4 diesel ln65 d/cab hilux, romped around in it for a month or so before I wanted to go a bit further, in went maxitrac 2" lift springs and long travel big bore shockies and 31x10.50 r15 kumhos plus a lockrite autolocker in the front. discovered it has 4.88 diffs while I was installing the locker which was nice. This was ok until I hydrauliced the old 2.4 just after coming through the waipuna caves lol... It's off the road again for awhile while it gets the 5mge installed, 2" body lift (can't be bothered chopping down the mounts at this point) have to up the kl71's to 33" at the same time. crossover steering will also be on order, also needs longfields in the front, sort out the lsd in the rear.

will do more with the suspension in the future but right now not particulary concerned.

the 2.4 managed the 31's ok, it has 4.88 diff's as well which helps. I wouldnt go any bigger on a 2.4.
