A rover V8 conversion, need to get your tape measure out and see how much bigger/smaller the lexus is.
if you are searching on the web, use MONTERO instead of PAJERO, as you will get alot more hits

I don't think it does without a fair bit of work.
This was for a NH (second generation)
http://forums.overlander.com.au/viewtop ... sc&start=0
and if you sift through all the crap that gets posted I think they found it would fit possibly, maybe the earlier 1st gen Paj's had bigger engine bays. There is one about somewhere with a 302 in it that was on Trade Me a few months back.

You might find it's ok if someone has got a Rover V8 in there, external dimensions of the Rover are 762mm wide by 843 long by 711 high(deep) and Lexus engines are 700 square.
Be an interesting conversion, post a build diary if you do it.
Cheers.

I'd be real keen to see this done I might even be keen to help out with some parts
As I've just made the call to sell my rangy project

need room, this means I'm going to have a lexus motor sitting there with no where to go and the paj is just a bit under powered

something might just happen

I had to make the comment...
have a lexus motor sitting there with no where to go and the paj is just a bit under powered
It might well be happening, I was haveing a play in the weekend and with a "phut & a quite bang" it stopped, and it happened to do this in the middle of a rather large puddle

anyway turns out I've done the secondary timing belt

I've got my fingers crossed, but I'm realistic I had the bastard at full noise when I did it so I don't think theres a chance for the motor
Anyway I measured up the engine bay,

the lexus will fit you'll have to move the radiator forward into the space where the Aircon radiator is and throw an electric fan infront, the fun comes with height its too tall! but with a front mount sump (I've got a mid) you should be able to sqeeze it in
Just got to look at sorting the gearbox issue, word is the manual just an't strong enough for a repower
hmmmm this is starting to sound like the lemon

Not to put ideas in your head - but the 5MG only fits in an IFS Hilux with a front sump - which shortens the life of the motor drastically...
Oil at the front of the engine...
Going up a steep bank...
Giving it full noise...
Pickup starves...
crank dries...
bearings nip up...
...
The solution? Rear sump... How to make it fit?

...As if you don't have enough to do

Another project begin's .... I've just pulled the pin on the 4D56 got the new timing belts in and she's as tight as a nun's

open forum... arghh lets just say pay packet
Poor starter moter can just barely turn it over, and even with 24V through it, she isn't swinging fast enough to start  and I can't be bothered stuffing round fixing an old diesel anyway!
Roll on LEXUS
Anybody got a second hand Linx unit?? or know where I can get a cheapy!

just a thought ... but you only need a Link Computor to run the ignition ?? have a look at installing two 4 cylinder jappa distributors one on each bank on the front attached to the cam drive may be easier than you think
send pixs when completed

sounds very similar to what the speedway boys do, is it not going to require custom made cams to drive it?
It mite just be a little bit more than my skills can manage
i still work to the old theory if it dont fit, force it and if that don't work get a bigger hammer........
what do u know about cruiser boxes, i am thinking of putting one behind the lexus either a series 70 or 80 (have access to both) Do you know of any bellhousings that will fit up? does the end of the cruiser box fit to a w series bell housing?

cruiser boxes are bulletproof, from memory the f style boxes wont fit the w serries counterparts

you just want to remember the petrol and deisel boxs have a diff spline count .....................................why not a 40 serries there nice and short or did you want 5 cogs instead of 4.

dont get burnt by one of those links like i did, spend the money get a microtech

thanks for that, the only 40series that I could get my hands on is a 3speed

and I like changing gear
The spline count shouldn't be an issue as I'll take the clutch and transfercase as well
The bits I need to sort are the bellhousing (don't want to have to make another custom one

) and the flywheel
Thanks for the headsup on the Linx as I need this going I'll cough the extra

for a microtec

Motor and box are out

what a performance!! ended up having to cut the pto winch shaft it was that badly rusted on
Found a possable sollution to the flywheel, custom 1UZ ones and get them to drill it to take the cruiser clutch... costly, very costly tho
Anybody know of anything that will bolt on to the lexus, I could look at redrilling to take the crusier clutch
As for the bellhousing

I don't want to go there yet

Thanks for that, there is also a cast bellhousing on trademe for $600 and a second hand bolt up addapted one for $500 ....
I'm gona stick with the cruiser one... all its costing me is a favor and a bit of a drive, don't know of any lux ones I can get for that

besides I want to keep my pto winch
I might manage to sort an addapter for the lexus auto bellhousing .... I've got the word that the F series bellhousing is a bit longer than the lexus auto

then its just a case of making an adapter plate
